A few thoughts about local issues

It's nearly time for me to try for re-election. It have been a very interesting time working as a councillor. I have met with some very intersting people whom I would never have met in any other way. I have managed to help people, and it has been very rewarding when I have managed to get it right, and things have improved for the people who have asked me for their help. I know now that the old saying " You can't please everyone" is one of the best and correct concepts in the english language.

When I first became a councillor I was of the opinion that most problems could be solved as a matter of common sense. Now I know that common sense is not as common as we would all like, and that Politics often gets in the way. There are many forms of misinformation, misconceptions, and misunderstandings that tends to break-down the straight pathway to a common sense solution, but that this is because there is the human element that makes us all different. Somtimes to find the corect solutions is like finding your way through a maze, your not sure of your direction, but once you start you can only go forwards, and however long it takes you hope that you can find the right path to success. In many cases you have to try and get the meat out of the sandwich, separate the wheat from the chaf, find the real nature of the problem and once that has been issolated, then the problem can be dealt with.
