Dear Residents,
Welcome to my website. I am one of the three Labour councillors for Norden, alternatively known as Oakridge and South View.
I moved to Basingstoke in 1962 to work at Thornycrofts. During the past 40 years I have witnessed many changes in Basingstoke including the demolition of the Town Centre on two occasions. We now have produced a shopping centre which we are all proud off.
I have also seen the development of our housing estates and the building of new ones in the town, these types of changes had a major impact on our citizens. These types of issues encouraged me to become a councillor.
I have represented Norden since 1992 and during the past 12 years I have held various positions of responsibility and currently I am the Deputy Leader of the Council. As Deputy Leader my portfolio includes the responsibility for the Borough Councils Property Portfolio, Partnership Working, Rating and Council Tax, Contributions to Parish Councils, Financial Services and the E-Government programme.
I believe strongly in openness and transparency hence my enthusiasm for E-Government.
Among my other interests is education and health and I am Chairman of Governors at Merton Infant & Junior Schools and I am also the Vice Chairman of the North Hampshire Primary Care Trust.
